
Texas Leads US in Home Building.
Despite having 9% of the population in the United States, Texas accounts for 15% of all new home permits. The growth is expected to continue, and according to a report by Realtor.com, Texas is expected to overtake California as the nation’s largest population by 2045.
Long known for it’s affordability across the four major metros in Texas, recent inflation has steered home builders into building more affordable homes. In the last two years, the pace of new homes priced under $350,000 has dramatically increased, while new construction of homes priced between $350,000 and $2 million has fallen.
In 2024, homes priced below $350,000 accounted for 47% of the for sale housing inventory in Texas – which included both new and existing homes. As the effects of inflation continue to persist, 50,000 more homes were priced at or below $350,000 in 2024 versus the year previously. Click here for the full article.
