The History of the River Oaks Development
The video describes how River Oaks was developed as well as the architects who designed the first homes. The Hogg family was instrumental. James Hogg, the first govenor of Texas whom was born in Texas, bought the old Varner Plantation in West Columbia in 1901. He left it to his heirs and the oil and gas royalties payed them millions, some of which was used to buy almost 200 acres in River Oaks.
